Nurse Scholarship Program Continuing Professional Education Scheme for Rural and Remote Nurses
(During 2009-10, the Continuing Professional Education Scheme for Rural and Remote Nurses will be consolidated into the Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship and Support Scheme)
Overview
The scheme is an Australian Government initiative seeking to support nurses and midwives in rural and remote areas of Australia to undertake continuing professional education activities, including programs, courses and conference attendance as a presenter or delegate.
Application dates
The scheme is now closed. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by November/December 2009.
How to apply
This scheme is now closed. Information regarding applications for 2010 will be available closer to the opening of the application round in 2010.
Value of scholarship
Scholarships are worth up to $10,000 each for up to two years of study.
Criteria
Applications will be considered from applicants who are:
- Australian citizens or permanent residents
- Registered nurses or midwives or enrolled (Division 2) nurses with a current practising certificate
- living and/or working in an Accessibility/Remoteness Index of Australia (ARIA) postcode ranked rural or remote area*
- commencing a program/conference on or after August 2009
Recently re-entered nurses are encouraged to apply under this scheme to further skill themselves for their specific work place, as are nurses currently practising in remote or very remote areas of Australia.
Applicants who have commenced study prior to the opening of the current round will be considered however, successful applicants will only receive funding for costs incurred after the opening date of the current round.
